d...d...d...d...d...dooor...d...d...d...d...d...dooor. Dooor dooor dooor the explorer!

The internal doors are getting put in!  Joe started putting them in Saturday morning and had most of them done by the end of the day.  So I am guessing he may be finishing them off today.  The plastering is all done and the cornice too.  They have sanded all the plaster ready for painting at the end of the week.  The most exciting thing is starting today and that is the kitchen!!!  I am hoping that it comes out looking as schmick as I have envisioned it to look.  We have to decide on our interior paint colours too so the girls and I have painted up some spare gib board and have to decide on 1 of 2 whites for the bulk of the house walls, doors and trim.  Then the choice out of 1 of the 2 pink colours the girls are having in their room.  I would love to totally kit out their rooms really fun and beautiful but we simply don't want to spend shed loads of money now and I would like to live in the house and do things as we go as New Zealand is such a disappointing place to try to buy stuff for your house.  It guts me watching Canadian and American design shows that have the most amazing variety of new and second hand stuff to create a fabulous and timeless look.  The fabrics and light fittings are so flipping amazing!  Anyone who watches "Sarah 101" or her old series "Sarah's House" and "Design Inc" will know what I'm on about.  I am deadly jellyarse!  But  for what limited choices there are, we have made good decisions I think so I am happy.

We are waiting for quotes for asphalt, cobbles and concrete to decide what we will be using on the drive, paths and patio area.  We know we will go for either asphalt or exposed agregate with full dose black oxide in the mix on the drive and front door path.  Then depending on price and look we will decide on what surface for the back path and patio area.

Here are a few pics of the house thus far and a before kitchen look too.
