Not only did it turn out to be a stunning day with not a drop of rain it was a productive happy day of signing off our kitchen choices and sussing out a few other bits for the house. Very productive day it was.
I wanted to kiss our Kitchen Designer Tracey when we walked in for our meeting today. I had been almost dreading choosing between the 2 possible bench tops as they were so smooth surfaced I was cringing to think about chasing coffee cups around with coasters as once they get scratched it looks like it has been attacked with sandpaper. So to my utter delight Tracey informed me that Wilsonart has just brought out a whole new line of benchtops!! In that collection there is one that not only looks fantastic it is the most hard wearing of all the laminate benchtops available in NZ.....So very happy now because as much as the design is super important the practical side and durable side is just as important to me. Then to cap it all off we decided (Nath actually) to make the call and we are having a Roxx Crystal Island bench top. We also found a perfect tile (I hope) for the splashback to run the length of the kitchen and the bonus it is 1/2 the price of the coloured glass we were going to get.
I really love our Kitchen Designer she is brilliant and so nice to work with and is honest and direct with any direction with ideas we have for different aspects. It also helps she has thrown in some freebees which is fab. I can't wait to have her over for a drink in our new kitchen to sit at our beautiful and expensive Roxx bench on our stylish and extremely cheap stools haha. We also near fell on the floor when Tracey measured out just how big our Island bench and the length the back bench is. It isn't till you see the length next to a huge bench on their display and for her to comment and say we have a massive bench you get the idea of how it will look.
So we are going to get the bedrooms and the lounge windows curtained and reassess the rest of the house once we have had 6 months of living in a well insulated house with double glazing. We knew we needed to get the bones of the house right and bugger doing curtains throughout and buying the nice light shades now as they are incidentals and we will be fine! Lights and curtains are overrated anyway.....We are culling a few extras that can be added on later to ensure we get the job done right and not overstretch ourselves.
Well roll on the fine weather next week so the roofers have a chance of getting up and getting the tiles on. But even Joe had to say he had never seen this much rain ever. Since the contract was signed it has rained so much it is unreal. So maybe now the sky has run out of cloud juice and we can get on with the build xx ....that's fingers crossed.
